Our physicians are not only exceptionally trained, many of them have leadership roles at Baltimore area hospitals. We have urologists who serve as urologic consultants to the NFL Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Orioles, who have been named "Top Docs" by Baltimore magazine, and who have been recognized in the National Guide to Top Doctors. One of our members serves on the World Health Organization's global panel on HIV prevention in Africa.
Chesapeake Urology's vast variety of specialties gives our physicians the opportunity to have a wide range of clinical experience and provides mentorship opportunities and the camaraderie of colleagues with whom they can continue to learn and grow in the exciting practice of Urology. Our fully-integrated urologic care delivery model not only contributes to superior patient care, but it helps reduce cost.
Our Centers of Excellence and specialties include:
We stay on the cutting edge of urologic practice. This ranges from our extensive research division which has participated in more than 100 phase I, II and III clinical trials to our newest specialist in genital aesthetic surgery, who is the first in the region to offer laser labiaplasty, vaginal rejuvenation, hymenoplasty and penoscrotal web.
Our urologists were the first in Baltimore to offer da Vinci robotic surgery
on a community hospital level so that more men having prostatectomies could have the benefits of a faster recovery, less blood loss and fewer complications. Chesapeake Urology surgeons have performed more da Vinci robotic surgeries than any other group of urologists in the area - more than 1,000 procedures - providing our patients with the reassurance that they are in the hands of surgeons with the utmost expertise. CUA surgeons performed the first robotic cystectomy in Maryland.
Other firsts include that we were the first in the Mid-Atlantic region to remove a kidney stone percutaneously
and the first to implant a penile prosthesis
