Kavita Kalra, M.D.
Kavita Kalra, M.D., medical oncologist, works closely with Chesapeake Urology’s physicians to provide comprehensive medical oncology services to patients with all types of urologic cancers. Dr. Kalra is board-certified in medical oncology and hematology. She currently serves as head of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Maryland, Midtown Campus.
Partnering with Chesapeake’s physicians, Dr. Kalra provides patients with medical-based treatments including chemotherapy and oral agents. In addition to assisting urologists with diagnosis of urologic cancers, she also provides patients with follow-up care as well as symptom management for cancer related diagnoses including treatment of chemo-related anemia and other related conditions resulting from cancer therapies.
Dr. Kalra sees patients at her practice located at Chesapeake Urology’s office at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) in Towson, MD.
Dr. Kalra is a graduate of St. George's University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Maryland General Hospital and a Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the Greenebaum Cancer Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Recognized for her compassion and as having the highest level of bedside manner and trust among her patients, Dr. Kalra has been the recipient of several notable honors and awards including The Patients' Choice Compassionate Doctor Award, a national program that honors the top 3% of U.S. physicians for their compassionate patient care. She also serves as the treasurer of the Baltimore City Medical Society.
