For the third consecutive year, Chesapeake Urology Associates (CUA) is proud to announce the recipients of the Chesapeake Urology Associates Scholarship Fund of the Central Scholarship Bureau.  Created in 2006 to provide assistance to full-time undergraduate students pursuing a degree in pre-medicine, nursing and ancillary health fields, the scholarships are up to $5,000 each and are based on demonstrated commitment to the medical field, financial need and academic achievement.    All recipients are Maryland residents.  This year's recipients for the 2008-2009 academic year are:

  • Rose Eisenbeiss: a senior at the University of Maryland School of Nursing and a resident of Takoma Park, Maryland
  • Maureen Hohn: a junior at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and a resident of Lutherville, Maryland.
  • Bethlehem Sisay: a junior in the Physicians Assistant program at Howard University and a resident of Silver Spring, Maryland.
  • Tammi West: a junior at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and a resident of Grasonville, Queen Anne's County, Maryland.
  • Loi Tran: a junior at the University of Maryland at Baltimore in Nursing, and a resident of Columbia, Maryland.

"The Chesapeake Urology Associates Fund scholarships were established to continue CUA's commitment to the community and provide financial support for those who want a career in the medical fields but cannot afford the cost," says Dr. Sanford Siegel, president of CUA and a board member of the Central Scholarship Bureau.   "They make a huge difference in the lives of the recipients and the patients they serve in the future," says Dr. Siegel, who knows this first hand.  As a medical student in the 1970s, Siegel was a recipient of Central Scholarship Bureau funds.  For more information about CSB, visit
