Chesapeake Urology recently welcomed urologist Benjamin R. Cohen, M.D., to the practice. Dr. Cohen sees patients in Chesapeake Urology's Woodholme Medical Center/Pikesville office located at 1838 Greene Tree Road, Suite 460, Pikesville and in the Towson office located at 8322 Bellona Avenue, Suite 202, Towson, MD.
A general urologist for men and women, Dr. Cohen’s clinical areas of focus also include: urologic oncology, 3D Ultrasound/MRI fusion prostate cancer biopsy, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, male incontinence, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and erectile dysfunction (ED).
After graduating from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in biophysical chemistry, Dr. Cohen received his Doctor of Medicine degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. While at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Cohen spent one year at the National Institutes for Health (NIH) as a Howard Hughes-NIH Research Scholar working in the Urologic Oncology branch. He then completed his general surgery internship and urology residency at the Cleveland Clinic. In his final year at the Cleveland Clinic, he was the urology chief resident.
Dr. Cohen has been recognized for excellence in research. He was an HHMI-NIH Research Scholar and a Yale Johnson and Johnson Scholar in International Health. His honors also include the Best Overall Abstract award at the 2014 Ohio Urological Society meeting, the Lester Persky award for urology research, the Andrew Watson Sellards Fund, the Chandler T. White 1916 Research Fund and the Presidential Scholar Research Assistantship.
Dr. Cohen has contributed to a number of prestigious peer-reviewed publications and his clinical work has been published in a book chapter and multiple abstracts. He is a member of the American Urological Association.
