BALTIMORE - Dr. Sanford J. Siegel, President and CEO of Chesapeake Urology Associates (CUA), announces the addition of Dr. Kristin L. Chrouser to its Glen Burnie office. As the nation's second largest urology practice, CUA offers broad urology services, including urologic reconstruction surgery, which will expand with the addition of Dr. Chrouser's expertise.

Fellowship trained in international urology and reconstruction with the International Volunteers in Urology in Salt Lake City, Utah, Dr. Chrouser traveled to eight countries to focus on international urologic reconstruction and surgeon education. Dr. Chrouser specializes in male and female reconstructive surgery, especially the repair of urethral strictures and vesicovaginal fistulas (VVF) - an abnormal fistulous tract extending between the bladder and the vagina that permits the continuous involuntary discharge of urine into the vaginal vault. As a partner at CUA, Dr. Chrouser will also treat patients for general urology needs.

Not one to neglect her passion, Dr. Chrouser will continue her work in improving the efficiency and access to surgical services in underdeveloped countries, as well as improving surgical outcomes in VF patients.

Dr. Chrouser received magna cum laude undergraduate honors from Princeton University and graduate honors from Mayo Medical School. She completed her internship in general surgery and her residency in urology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. Most recently, Dr. Chrouser completed her master's degree in public health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, with a concentration in leadership and management.  Her current public health work focuses on issues surrounding the scale up of mass circumcision in Africa to reduce the transmission of HIV.

Academically, Dr. Chrouser has published and presented over 12 times and has received numerous awards during her training, including the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health Sommer Scholar Award in 2007, the Mayo International Health Program Award and the American Urological Association Gerald P. Murphy Scholar Award in 2005. Dr. Chrouser is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Urological Association and the American Medical Association.
