(Baltimore, MD, August 12, 2009) Chesapeake Urology Associates (CUA) is proud to announce that board-certified urologist S. Mark Redwood, M.D. has been appointed Chief of Urology at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.
Dr. Redwood is a member of CUA, whose staff of 48 urologists includes ten physicians who are chiefs of urology at various Baltimore area hospitals, plus one urologist who is a chief of surgery.
Dr. Redwood succeeds Dr. Stephen Cohen as Sinai's chief of Urology. Dr. Cohen, also a CUA physician, is passing the torch to Dr. Redwood after serving 30 years as the longest running chief of a division in the history of Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Redwood, who has practiced in the Baltimore area since 1999, specializes in laparoscopic surgery and minimally invasive urologic surgery for prostate, kidney, bladder and testicular cancers, male and female urinary incontinence, pelvic-floor and voiding dysfunction, erectile dysfunction and pediatric urology. "I am honored to continue the tradition of the highest quality of urology care at Sinai Hospital developed under the leadership of my colleague Dr. Cohen," said Dr. Redwood.
During Dr. Cohen's tenure, Sinai's Urology division was the first site on the East coast to remove a kidney stone percutaneously in 1983, on the forefront of bringing Shock Wave Lithotripsy to the Baltimore area, and oversaw the transition in urologic surgery utilizing advancements such as fiber optic systems and cryosurgical technology.
Dr. Redwood has offices at the Mirowski Medical Office Building at Sinai Hospital, 5051 Greenspring Avenue, Suite 302, Baltimore, MD and 21 Crossroads Drive, Suite 450, Owings Mills, MD. He can be reached at 410-542-4700.
