Laparoscopic Adrenalectomy
Adrenalectomy refers to the surgical removal of the adrenal gland. Depending on the location and the preference of the surgeon, this can be done using robot-assisted or traditional laparoscopic techniques.
How is Laparoscopic Adrenalectomy Performed?
- This procedure is performed under general anesthesia.
- Four to five small incisions will be made into the abdomen to give the surgeon access to the entire cavity.
- The adrenal gland is visualized using the magnification of the camera so it can be dissected and removed through a small abdominal incision.
- The adrenal gland is freed from surrounding tissues. Blood vessels to the adrenal gland are visualized and clipped.
