Background
Dr. Taylor is fellowship-trained in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. She specializes in female pelvic reconstructive surgery as well as women’s urologic conditions including stress and urge urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, voiding dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, urethral diverticulum, vulvar conditions, urologic conditions in pregnancy, chronic pelvic pain, interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome and recurrent urinary tract infection, mesh revisions, non-mesh surgical prolapse repairs, Bulkamid® urethral bulking agent for stress incontinence, neuromodulation, and vesicovaginal/urethrovaginal fistula.
Dr. Taylor is also a specialist in Axonics sacral neuromodulation therapy, an exciting new treatment for bladder and bowel dysfunction. She was named an Axonics Center of Excellence in 2020 as a result of her experience and dedication to exceptional outcomes for patients living with incontinence. Chesapeake Urology is the first Center of Excellence for Axonics sacral neuromodulation in the U.S. and Dr. Taylor is among the three Chesapeake Urology physicians designated as top Axonics implanters in the nation.
Prior to joining Chesapeake Urology in March 2019, Dr. Taylor was an Assistant Professor, Department of Urology, at the UMPC Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, one of the nation’s top hospitals specializing in women.
Dr. Taylor received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. She completed her residency in urologic surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital before completing her fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at Case Western Reserve University.
She has published articles and book chapters on topics including urinary incontinence in women, chronic pelvic pain conditions, interstitial cystitis and the management of recurrent urinary tract infections. Her awards include the Northwestern McGaw Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Susan B. Pearlman Award for Humanism and the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Department of Urology Dr. Leander Riba Award for Humanism in Medicine.
Dr. Taylor is a member of the American Urological Association, the Society of Women in Urology, and the Society of Urodynamics and Female Urology.
