Ruth Anne Diggs, RN, BSN, OCN, is an oncology certified nurse with a certificate in chemotherapy/biotherapy. Ruth has extensive experience caring for cancer patients, with a strong background in radiation oncology. She served as a radiation nurse coordinator in the Radiation Oncology department of Sinai Hospital’s Cancer Center. Previous to that, she was an oncology education specialist at Franklin Square Hospital and a GYN oncology nurse coordinator at Union Memorial Hospital. She joined Chesapeake Urology in 2013 following 27 years of cancer nursing. Ruth is passionate in her dedication to guiding patients through their cancer diagnosis and treatment.
“I believe that oncology nursing is a special calling. It takes compassion, a caring nature, collaboration and a love of education to be an oncology navigator. There’s an art to supporting patients through their cancer journey. It’s important to be a good listener and to be attentive to the patients’ needs,” says Ruth.
Ruth received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and her associate of arts degree in Nursing from Essex Community College. She is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society, a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
